Kiltwalk season continues with the upcoming Edinburgh Kiltwalks on 13 September.

We had a great turnout of supporters raising funds for us by taking on the Glasgow Kiltwalk earlier this year. The whole team from our valued shirt sponsor, VSN Sport, pulled on the trainers and stepped out raising over £1000 for the charity <https://fb.watch/IBsP-KAc7g/> while our Director Sandra Taylor trod the path again…again? Wait, didn’t she say ‘never again’ last year? Over to Sandra!

“Our Kiltwalk Big Stroll on Saturday 25 April already feels like a distant memory but what a fantastic day it was!

“The weather couldn’t have been more different from last year. Instead of the usual Scottish conditions for the end of April, we were treated to warm sunshine throughout the day.

“This year I was joined by my sister, Linda, and my friend, Gail. Thanks to our late entry (yes, I did say ‘never again!’) we had a later start time, but that didn’t stop us enjoying every mile.

“The route seemed busier than ever, with lots of large groups walking together. Luckily, as a team of three, we were able to weave our way through the crowds and keep up a good pace. We stopped at Dumbarton Park for a well-earned break, grabbing some food and recharging our batteries before setting off on the final stretch.

“Crossing the finish line after walking 14.5 miles at Balloch Park was a great feeling. We collected our Kiltwalk 2026 medals, had the obligatory finish-line photos taken and soaked up the atmosphere. The park was packed with walkers and their families, all making the most of the beautiful weather.

“Our day wasn’t quite over, though. We were heading back to Glasgow by train and, after checking the timetable, realised we had just 10 minutes to catch the next one. After a quick sprint to the station, we discovered the train had been cancelled! That meant a 30-minute wait on a platform packed with fellow Kiltwalkers. Thankfully, the three of us managed to grab seats when the train finally arrived, and before long we were back at Anniesland to collect the car.

“We all survived! After an early night we felt refreshed and Gail even went on to win her golf tie on Sunday afternoon to progress through to the next round in the medal—a great way to round off the weekend.

“Together we raised an incredible £3,117 including Gift Aid. We are so grateful to everyone who donated and helped us achieve such an amazing total for the Hearts and Balls Charitable Trust. Your generosity and support mean so much.

“It really was a brilliant day. Will I be signing up again next year? Ask me again in a few months… who knows!”

Every donation, of whatever size, will continue to help us to help rugby help its own. Check out our Hearts and Balls Charitable Trust branded film to see how that money translates into real assistance – https://youtu.be/hQFrhBxAvO4.
